There is a new realm of magic. Fire, Earth, Chaos, Life and now Word magic. A coven of Wizards addicted to Scrabble realised that their words could be used to destroy dragons, the undead, minotaurs, goblins, kobolds, bugbears etc etc. They each set out with their bag of letters ready to conquer the nearest dungeon. The world of Dungeon Scroll is something like this.
Basically you use words to destroy the denizens of increasingly dangerous dungeons. You receive a fresh bag of letters after every level and occasionaly receive power-ups and special peices from boss fights. Only a fool would waste an eight letter word on a giant rat...best to save it up for something dangerous. Your health is depleted with every second of play and replenished after a foe is vanquished.
